8 tips for beautiful skin (& break up with your makeup)

8 tips for beautiful skin (& break up with your makeup)

I’ve always loved makeup.  I love shopping for makeup, looking at the pretty packaging, and choosing what beautiful shade of blush I feel like wearing on a particular day. Even when I was in high school and rarely wore a lick of it, I still enjoyed reading beauty books and wandering through the makeup aisles of the drugstore. Somewhere between then and now, makeup became something that I not only enjoyed wearing but something that I felt I needed to wear to feel complete.   All of the lip products that I found in my diaper bag...

Why I blog (a virtual blog tour)

Why I blog (a virtual blog tour)

There are so many wonderful benefits of being a blogger, and I have to say that the very best one of all is meeting some fantastic people.  In fact, I met the majority of my friends in Charlotte through blogging! Char, one of my sweet blogging friends, who writes at Char Eats Greens recently asked me to participate in a virtual blog tour.  I was very flattered and thought that it sounded like a fun way for you to get to know me just a little bit better. In case you aren’t familiar with Char’s blog: Char is a recent nutrition...

Friday Favorites (6/13)

Friday Favorites (6/13)

You all know that I am a fan of trying out new things.  Alright, I also just really like to shop. But the beauty of my shopping addiction is that I discover great products, foods, etc. that I can share with you!  So, I’ll be posting my Friday Favorites a few times a month.  I’ll still my Things I Didn’t Share posts from time to time too. OK, let’s get down to business!     1. Beach Babe Lip Balm (3 pack)  I recently won these as part of a giveaway, and I was actually kind of blown away by them.  They are...

What to Try: LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics

What to Try: LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics

[Please note: This is not a sponsored post.  However, some of the products mentioned below were sent to me for consideration.]   The first time that I ever visited a LUSH store was many years ago in San Francisco.  After reading about how much celebrities loved their products, I was just dying to try them out for myself.  However, I felt very overwhelmed when I got to the store and left empty handed.  There were just so many fabulous scents, soaps, and creams, and I didn’t know what to choose! After lots of research (or...

Help put an end to distracted driving

Help put an end to distracted driving

Today’s post is about a more serious subject…distracted driving. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Auto Alliance want to increase awareness about the risks of distracted driving through the Decide to Drive program. The Decide to Drive program aims to empower drivers and passengers to speak up about distracted driving, continue the conversation at home, work and play, and reduce distracted behaviors behind the wheel. I’m really happy to be involved in the program- especially since this subject hits kind...

Weekend recap (date night)

Weekend recap (date night)

Happy Monday! Friday was MT’s birthday, so we celebrated by having a date night…without kids! We went to a local restaurant called Portofino’s for dinner.  It has quickly become a favorite of ours. MT loves the pizza, and I always order the salmon salad.  Truth be told, I really order it for the house salad dressing.  It is so good that I could probably drink it.  Apparently, the recipe is a well-guarded secret that only family members are allowed to know.  I’ve tried to replicate it at home several times, but...

Life Lately: 2 Months Postpartum

Life Lately: 2 Months Postpartum

Happy Friday! It is hard to believe, but Addison turned two months old this week.  I thought that it would be a great time to do a life update to let you know how my little family is doing. How Addison is doing… Addison is a very sweet, cuddly, tolerant baby. We’re very lucky that she has such an easy-going disposition considering how her brother is always in her face and/or making tons of noise.  She did go through a collicky period for about the first 6 weeks, but thankfully, it was just for an hour or so every evening.  She...

6 websites for healthy recipes

6 websites for healthy recipes

Flipping through cookbooks is one of my favorite things to do.  I just love looking at all of the beautiful pictures and putting sticky notes on the pages with recipes that I want to try.  I have a really nice collection of cookbooks in my kitchen, and I cherish all of them. But sometimes it is just way easier to type “healthy pasta recipes” into Google and call it a day.  The experience of picking out a recipe might not be as much fun, but over the years, I have discovered many websites that come pretty close. Here are my top 5...

Memorial Day Weekend recap

Memorial Day Weekend recap

Even though Michael is only 19 months old, he is already getting his two year old molars.  When he got his other teeth, it never really seemed to affect him physically or emotionally, but these teeth are a whole other story. The pain really started on Saturday.  He would start screaming out of nowhere, and the yelling was much more dramatic than what we see with a normal toddler tantrum.  He also refused food and wouldn’t drink. Because of the teething issue, we kept the weekend pretty low key, but we did still have lots of fun! One...

Must-haves for toddlers

Must-haves for toddlers

  1.  SippiGrip If you have a toddler, you are probably familiar with the pain that comes from being hit by a flying sippy cup.  Seriously, why do they insist on throwing everything?  This little contraption wraps around the cup and then it can be attached to things like strollers, shopping carts, and high chairs, so the sippy cup can no longer be used as a projectile.   It is nothing short of a lifesaver. 2.  Step2 WaterWheel Activity Play Table Michael can play with this for hours and hours.  He loves splashing the water,...
