Weekend recap (Mother’s Day)

Weekend recap (Mother’s Day)

This was only my second Mother’s Day as a mother, but I’m just going to proclaim it to be my very favorite of all time anyway. Last year was awesome because it was my very first time being celebrated as a mom, but this year, I got to spend the day with my completed little family. I was totally spoiled for the entire weekend with things like flowers, cards, and a shopping trip to Vineyard Vines. MT even wore the Ergo and pushed Michael in the stroller while we were at the mall, so I could completely relax.  I am sure that some...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5-9)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5-9)

  1. It has felt like summer in Charlotte this week, and I’ve had so much fun playing outside with Michael.  We’ve gone to the playground several times and played with his water table almost daily…all while I wore Addison in my Ergo.  Michael is at such a fun age right now, and I love how he can make me feel like a big kid. 2. Today was Addison’s one month check-up with the pediatrician, and she is gaining weight and growing just perfectly.  I am already dreading next month’s appointment though because...

5 YouTube fitness & health channels you should follow

5 YouTube fitness & health channels you should follow

As many of you probably know, I am a big fan of working out at home. I am not a runner and don’t belong to a gym (although there is one in my neighborhood clubhouse that I’ve admittedly never used).  Aside from going on nice walks and playing with my toddler, I get my exercise by following along to workout DVDs in my home library and through videos on YouTube. YouTube is an amazing source for free workouts as well as healthy recipes and lifestyle information.  Here are five channels that I subscribe to and really enjoy! Fitness...

Weekend recap & giveaway winners

Even though I don’t play golf (or any sport for that matter) and think that watching it on television is pretty much the same as watching paint dry, MT and I went to the Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend. I’ve been there before, and it is always such a fun event.  I love being outside and people watching (especially checking out all of the adorable clothes the female spectators are wearing). Surprisingly enough, watching golf in person is actually pretty entertaining- especially when you’re observing from a tent...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

1.  When The Sopranos first aired 15 years ago, I didn’t watch and neither did my husband, but we recently got HBO Go and now we have access to all six seasons.  We’re only about eight episodes into season one so far, but we’re both completely addicted!  We even skipped our usual movie on Sunday night to watch a few episodes.   If you’ve never seen it but you’re a fan of movies like The Godfather (one of my all-time favorites), you absolutely have to watch it! 2.  It probably sounds cheesy, but I am working...

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

For the most part, I am pretty good about making sure that I eat enough vegetables.  I truly love salads and snacking on things like cucumbers and sliced bell peppers, so it isn’t all that hard for me. There are those rare days, however, when I fall a few servings short of the recommended daily amount (mostly when I am on vacation or eating meals outside of the home). Part of the reason why I love smoothies so much is that they make it really easy to work in those veggies.  You may even be surprised at how many vegetables can be hidden...

Things I didn’t share Friday (4/25)

  1.  I had all of the intentions in the world to do lots of posts this week, but as you may have noticed, that didn’t happen.  Addie has been super cuddly and likes to be held a lot- which is awesome- but it also makes it a bit difficult to get much done during the day.    When she is napping, I like to spend some one-on-one time with Michael, so again, I am not getting much blogging accomplished.  I’ll settle into a rhythm soon though, but until then, my posting schedule might be limited to just 2 days a week.  I...

Weekend recap in (mostly) pictures

Weekend recap in (mostly) pictures

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a fantastic Easter weekend.  Here’s a little look into our weekend here. I took a lot of pictures, so please excuse the massive photo dump. Visit from my sister and my adorable nieces… Lunch out with the whole family… A trip to Old Navy in which Michael was less than enthusiastic about trying on this hat… Easter morning… Lots of wine and delicious food (including a burger that I ate and evidently failed to photograph) And of course, some fun, smiles, and laughter- along...

Part two: My daughter’s birth story

Part two: My daughter’s birth story

(Continued from part one…) Once we arrived at the hospital, I was wheeled into the maternity ward and immediately brought to the delivery room. I don’t remember things moving so quickly when I went into labor with Michael, but the nurses sure seemed eager to get the ball rolling (and the baby moving) this time around. After changing into one of those stylish and lovely hospital gowns, I made my way to the hospital bed- and to be honest, I was kind of regretting the fact that I scarfed down a big lunch beforehand.  It seemed like a...

Part one: My daughter’s birth story

Part one: My daughter’s birth story

It feels like only yesterday that I was writing Michael’s birth story for the blog…but I guess that November of 2012 isn’t exactly considered ancient history.  I remember getting really emotional when I was typing it from my hospital bed.  I’m talking major sobbing and tears and leftover raging pregnancy hormones. (You can read parts one and two here and here.) Throughout this second pregnancy, I often wondered if I’d get as emotional after giving birth for the second time. This might sound horrible, but I just...
