Must-haves for toddlers

Must-haves for toddlers

  1.  SippiGrip If you have a toddler, you are probably familiar with the pain that comes from being hit by a flying sippy cup.  Seriously, why do they insist on throwing everything?  This little contraption wraps around the cup and then it can be attached to things like strollers, shopping carts, and high chairs, so the sippy cup can no longer be used as a projectile.   It is nothing short of a lifesaver. 2.  Step2 WaterWheel Activity Play Table Michael can play with this for hours and hours.  He loves splashing the water,...

Trader Joe’s haul (May 2014)

Trader Joe’s haul (May 2014)

On Sunday morning, my husband gave me an amazing gift- the joy of grocery shopping without children! Don’t me wrong- I enjoy the company of my little ones more than anything, but let’s face it, they do not make it easy or enjoyable to shop. I saw it as the perfect opportunity to  head off to Trader Joe’s, and I stocked up on some weekly staples and long-time favorites. Honey whole wheat bread (for MT’s lunches) Sprouted rye & wheat bread (my all-time favorite!) Bananas Fire roasted red and yellow peppers Baby bella...

La Croix Sparkling Water This water is just perfect for the times when I want to drink something carbonated, and it is a much healthier alternative to soda.  It comes in a variety of flavors.  My favorites are berry and coconut. Half Naked Popcorn I recently blogged about this popcorn, and I still eat it daily.  It is air-popped, GMO-free, and makes for a convenient fiber-filled snack. Kombucha Since women are not advised to drink kombucha while pregnant, it had been a long while since I bought it, but I have been making up for...

Beauty Brand Spotlight: Raisin Face

Beauty Brand Spotlight: Raisin Face

This is not a sponsored post.  When you’re a beauty product junkie, it is tempting to constantly try new things, and no matter how much you might love something, you can always be swayed to try something new… Until something amazing comes along, such as the product I am about to introduce. A few weeks before Addison was born, I felt like an ugly, old hag (to put it mildly). I am sure the feeling was mostly caused by pregnancy hormones, but regardless of what influenced my thoughts, I desperately wanted to refresh my...

Weekend recap (Mother’s Day)

Weekend recap (Mother’s Day)

This was only my second Mother’s Day as a mother, but I’m just going to proclaim it to be my very favorite of all time anyway. Last year was awesome because it was my very first time being celebrated as a mom, but this year, I got to spend the day with my completed little family. I was totally spoiled for the entire weekend with things like flowers, cards, and a shopping trip to Vineyard Vines. MT even wore the Ergo and pushed Michael in the stroller while we were at the mall, so I could completely relax.  I am sure that some...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5-9)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5-9)

  1. It has felt like summer in Charlotte this week, and I’ve had so much fun playing outside with Michael.  We’ve gone to the playground several times and played with his water table almost daily…all while I wore Addison in my Ergo.  Michael is at such a fun age right now, and I love how he can make me feel like a big kid. 2. Today was Addison’s one month check-up with the pediatrician, and she is gaining weight and growing just perfectly.  I am already dreading next month’s appointment though because...

5 YouTube fitness & health channels you should follow

5 YouTube fitness & health channels you should follow

As many of you probably know, I am a big fan of working out at home. I am not a runner and don’t belong to a gym (although there is one in my neighborhood clubhouse that I’ve admittedly never used).  Aside from going on nice walks and playing with my toddler, I get my exercise by following along to workout DVDs in my home library and through videos on YouTube. YouTube is an amazing source for free workouts as well as healthy recipes and lifestyle information.  Here are five channels that I subscribe to and really enjoy! Fitness...

Weekend recap & giveaway winners

Weekend recap & giveaway winners

Even though I don’t play golf (or any sport for that matter) and think that watching it on television is pretty much the same as watching paint dry, MT and I went to the Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend. I’ve been there before, and it is always such a fun event.  I love being outside and people watching (especially checking out all of the adorable clothes the female spectators are wearing). Surprisingly enough, watching golf in person is actually pretty entertaining- especially when you’re observing from a tent...

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

Things I didn’t share Friday (5/2)

1.  When The Sopranos first aired 15 years ago, I didn’t watch and neither did my husband, but we recently got HBO Go and now we have access to all six seasons.  We’re only about eight episodes into season one so far, but we’re both completely addicted!  We even skipped our usual movie on Sunday night to watch a few episodes.   If you’ve never seen it but you’re a fan of movies like The Godfather (one of my all-time favorites), you absolutely have to watch it! 2.  It probably sounds cheesy, but I am working...

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

8 veggies to add to your smoothies & a giveaway!

For the most part, I am pretty good about making sure that I eat enough vegetables.  I truly love salads and snacking on things like cucumbers and sliced bell peppers, so it isn’t all that hard for me. There are those rare days, however, when I fall a few servings short of the recommended daily amount (mostly when I am on vacation or eating meals outside of the home). Part of the reason why I love smoothies so much is that they make it really easy to work in those veggies.  You may even be surprised at how many vegetables can be hidden...
