Part one: Weekend recap (birthday celebration)


For some reason, I keep thinking that MT should be off from work today because it’s my birthday.ย  I guess his office doesn’t observe April Fool’s Day or my birthday.

The nerve. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, this past weekend was a blast, and I took so many pictures that I’m going to split my recap into two parts.

The weather was incredibly beautiful on Saturday, so Michael and I took a nice stroll around Blakeney.

Because I have an obsession with stripes, the shirts in Old Navy’s storefront window pulled me in like some magnetic force. However, you’ll be proud to know that I did not purchase anything striped and switched things up a bit with some polka dots.

That evening, we went to the McNinch House Restaurant to celebrate the fact that I’m aging in body (but definitely not in spirit, of course).

The restaurant is in a turn of the century Victorian home located in Charlotte, and we were seated in a room that used be the ladies’ parlor.

When I saw this butter, I was reminded of an embarrassing moment that happened nearly ten years ago.

I was attending my very first company holiday party, and it was at a very formal country club along the water.ย ย  At every table, there were tiny bowls of butter shaped like seashells.

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that they were butter.

When I noticed them, I said, “How cute.ย  I love white chocolate!” and popped one of the butterballs into my mouth in front of many of my co-workers, including my boss.

And that was me way before I could ever use pregnancy or mommy brain as an excuse.

ย Getting back to the dinner…

It was such a unique fun dining experience. If you live in the area, you definitely need to try this restaurant!


They even gave me a rose after dessert as though I was a contestant on The Bachelor, but luckily, I’ve already won the best husband ever.

  6. Your butter story is hilarious and I have to let you know, you’re not alone! At our wedding – they brought out bowls of scooped butter for the warm rolls. The best man thought they were scoops of vanilla ice cream (yes, they were huge scoops & yes, he thought we were serving dessert first?) so he took a giant bite! So, so funny! See you Friday!
