Product Rave- Supercritical Chia Oil by One Love Organics

I’ve heard so many great things about One Love Organics recently, so I was really excited when the company offered to send me a sample of one of their products to try.

After glancing through their website, I was immediately intrigued by the Supercritical Chia Oil.  After all, I eat chia seeds, but I’ve never used them as part of my beauty routine.

Here’s a description of the product from the One Love Organics website:

“Our signature oil, Supercritical Chia, is jam-packed with Omega-3s, antioxidants and vitamins. This pure, potent oil works wonders for your skin, absorbing quickly to moisturize, smooth and protect your sweet cheeks from the world outside.”

“Chia oil is gluten-free and contains 30 percent more antioxidants than blueberries! Chia oil is rich in protein, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, copper, iron, molybdenum, niacin and zinc.”

Supposedly, it can also help to calm acne breakouts which is always a good thing!

After using the oil for the past week, I have to say that I’m now a big fan.

Pros

  • It really does absorb quickly just as the description claims.
  • Even though it is an oil, it doesn’t make my face super oily or greasy-looking.
  • It is very hydrating- which is appreciated since my skin tends to be on the dry side.
  • I can wear it under makeup and don’t have to worry about my makeup sliding all over my face.
  • My skin is always very soft after I apply the oil.
  • So far, the oil hasn’t caused me to break out or react in any negative way.
  • It makes my skin look glowy and healthy.
  • The oil is made solely of plant-based ingredients.

Cons

  • It is kind of pricey at nearly $50 per bottle.

The chia oil doesn’t have a nice scent, and I was going to list that under the cons.  But that also means it doesn’t have any artificial fragrance- which is definitely a good thing.  The scent that the oil has dissipates quickly anyway.

I’d definitely consider buying more when my bottle is finished.  I’m really curious to try some other products by One Love Organics though, especially the Chia Whip foam cleanser, the lavendar aromatic body serum, and the vitamin E active moisture eye balm.

Have you ever tried any products by One Love Organics?  If you have, what did you think of them?

Have a great day!

I’d be super interested to see a post where you do a follow up on products you have reviewed…say like after using them for one month or something. I always wonder that, because I’ll sometimes try something new and either love it or not know how I really feel about it until a few weeks later. Or I’ll try something and it works great the first few times, then I start breaking out, etc. 🙂

I use the OLO chia oil and love it. I actually find the scent kind of nice…reminds me of cut grass. The scent does go away quickly though. All of their products are pretty amazing! The new Elizabeth Dehn collab is really wonderful.

  4. Hi Erin,
Thank you so much for posting a review. I am also super happy that you mentioned the scent but also acknowledge that it is a pro for it to be pure unadulterated oil that is unscented and the benefits this gives to the skin! @Sheena I have been using our supercritical chia oil for years and the results that it gave to me and my husband encouraged us to release this oil for its benefits in spite of its unusual aroma. Here is a link to the clinical pictures and the oil was used twice a day for 8 weeks for the results: http://oneloveorganics.com/blog/2012/10/a-before-and-after-picture-you-have-to-see-to-believe/

    • Hi Suzanne!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for sharing the link. I cannot wait to try more products from the line! 🙂

  5. I didn’t even know this existed, I am definitely intrigued. I just might have to give it a try!

Hi are you still using the chia oil and loving it? I just ordered it, I hope to have it soon 🙂

  7. It is a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it, and you don’t need much. I literally use two drops a day so I plan on it lasting probably the rest of the year.
