Surprise party & nutrition bar haul

Well, our new bed came and I just love it!

After the delivery, we went to REI because Michael needed a new ski jacket.  Well, I just happened to wander off to the nutrition bar aisle.  It was like a gravitational force.  I just didn’t stand a chance.

New jacket for Michael.  Larabars and Luna Bars for me!

I tried the Iced Oatmeal Raisin Luna Bar after drinking a green smoothie and thought that it was OK but not great.

My smoothie was great though and consisted of 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder, a huge handful of kale, 1/2 frozen banana, 3 ice cubes,  and 1/2 a mango.

Yesterday evening, we had a surprise 60th birthday party for my dad at my parent’s house.

Let me just say that my dad did not make this event easy.  He kept changing the plans my mother had made to get him out of the house and just made this a complete cluster half of the time.

But at the end of the day, it all went well.  Dad even fit (sorta) into his high school jacket!

The best part though was that my aunt and uncle drove 8 hours from Pennsylvania to make it there (even though they had to drive home this morning).

Dad said that it was the best birthday he’s ever had. 🙂

Michael and I were going to have breakfast at Panera this morning, but neither of us feel so great.

We decided to listen to our bodies and have some toast at home instead (his had Earth Balance and jelly and mine was topped with coconut butter and sliced banana.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend!
