Weekend grocery haul (Trader Joe’s, Earth Fare, & Publix)

I did a little grocery shopping over the weekend for some staples, fun new things, and some Thanksgiving items.

MT and I are actually cooking Thanksgiving dinner at home this year.  Well, I’m cooking anyway.  Now that we have our own family, we thought it would be really nice to start some holiday traditions with just the four of us.  I am really excited- although I know that my super picky toddler is going to request bananas and cookies over turkey and sweet potatoes.

Here is everything that I got.  I’m still not anywhere near stocked up for Turkey Day yet though!

Grape tomatoes

Persian cucumbers

Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar

(I usually shy away from anything that includes peanut butter because peanuts tend to break me out, but I really wanted this bar on that particular day.  It is amazing how much it really does taste like PB&J…minus the bread.)

Arame & Ginger Sauerkraut Salad

Dill & Garlic Sauerkraut Salad

(Sauerkraut is a great source of probiotics and an immune system booster.)

Clarified butter (Ghee)

(This is a great alternative to regular butter for anyone like me who is lactose intolerant.  Even though it is made from butter, the milk solids and impurities have been removed.)

Sweet potatoes

(I am making my all-time favorite sweet potato casserole again this year, so I needed to stock up!)

Organic butternut squash soup

(I have been eating this almost every single day at lunch time along with an open-faced sandwich with avocado and tomato on sprouted rye.)

Stevia packets

Coconut oil spray

Fire roasted peppers

Good Food Made Simple plain oatmeal

Rustic organic ruby red beets (frozen)

Organic butternut squash (frozen)

Sliced baby bella mushrooms

Uncured bacon

(For making a slightly modified version of this recipe in the slow cooker.)

Cranberry sauce

(I was planning to make my own, but when I saw this, I figured I’d save myself the trouble!)

Organic romaine hearts

Butternut squash

Organic kale

Vegenaise (not shown)

Synergy kombucha in Cosmic Cranberry (not shown)

Sprouted rye bread

(I was so excited when I saw it at Trader Joe’s because it has been out of stock the past two times.)

Four cheese jumbo ravioli

Stash Salted Caramel Mate herbal and black tea (not shown)

Harvest Bay coconut water (not shown)

(This is my new favorite brand of coconut water, but nothing can beat my Zico chocolate coconut water.  I think I’ll love it for always.)

Have you ever made Thanksgiving dinner?  Wish me luck!

  1. I will forever be grateful for you to introducing me to Zico Chocolate coconut water! (aka Cocoa Puffs milk!). I think it’s the Coconut Water for people who think they don’t like Coconut Water!!!

  2. Good Luck in Making Thanksgiving Dinner 🙂 I was in charge of Easter when I lived back in the Midwest and now I alternate between Thanksgiving or Christmas and this year is Thanksgiving. Do not be afraid to ask for help, especially another pair of hands while prepping and cooking and cleaning. I have learned to delegate tasks over the years – Mr. Craves prepares the coolers and makes sure there is ice on hand, F-I-L stays out of the way, M-I-L is my other set of hands along with Mr. Craves throughout the day, etc. Here is the thing with the coolers – keep them outside by a door that guests can access and that way they are not coming and in and out of the kitchen throughout the day. I also set up a bar table and garbage can/recycle can.

  3. Thanks to a blog promo, I tried like 20 diff Larabar flavors. PB&J is definitely one of the best ones!! My favorite was Coconut Cream PIe. 🙂
