Weekend Recap (shopping, baby shower, & food)

Well, it was yet another baby-filled weekend here,  but I did also manage to cram in some fun totally unrelated to babies.

Guess I should try do that before October when ALL of my weekends (and weekdays) are baby-filled, right?

The weekend kicked off with a little baby clothes shopping with my mom.  She kept wandering over to the little girl’s sections in all of the stores, and I had to remind her to focus on the boy’s side.

Unfortunately, girl things are just much cuter, and they really do have this crazy ability to pull you in.

We did pick up lots of really cute things for the baby though, including Gamecocks booties, which made Michael a very happy daddy.

After hitting up a bunch of stores, we went to lunch at Cafe Monte, a French bakery and bistro.  I had a major urge for fish, so I ordered a delicious mixed greens salad with salmon.

Once again, I totally failed to take a picture, so unfortunately, you’ll just have to use your imaginations.

I wonder how many times I can get away with using baby brain as my excuse for being forgetful?

On Saturday afternoon, Jen and I threw our friend Sara a Sweet Pea themed baby shower.

How cute is the clothes line that Jen made for Sara?

Like most baby showers, it included cheesy games, lots of food, and things that only expectant mothers get excited over, such as nipple brushes and butt paste.

While Sara opened her gifts, I took careful notes.   In other words, I stole ideas for my own baby registry.  😉

Saturday evening consisted of Mexican food at Charanda with our friends Jenny and Raymond (and their two adorable little girls) followed by TCBY (dairy-free strawberry sorbet for me) and an outdoor concert.

FYI- I don't know any of the people in this photo. Trust me, the band is back there somewhere.

It was such a beautiful night to sit outside and listen to the music.  However, Michael was pretty disappointed to learn that it was a B.Y.O.B. sort of a thing (we assumed there would be a vendor), but at least, we know for next time!

I’m purposely excluding a Sunday recap because it was boring, lazy, uneventful, and involved my Slanket.

Then again, isn’t that how Sundays should be?

What did you do this weekend?  Has anyone gone swimming yet?  I’m really hoping to squeeze in some pool time very soon.

Have a good one!

(PS- I made some more blog updates over the weekend, including the addition of a Baby tab in the menu bar.  Hope you like it!)

Cracked up about your mom wandering into the girls’ section – I think my own mom’s only just now coming to terms with the fact that she can’t buy cute pink dresses. So hopefully a couple more weeks and your mom will get there, haha!

    • Ha! My mom wanted to buy the baby a Burberry dress so badly, so she is pretty disappointed that she can’t do that. Maybe a Burberry suit? 🙂 Personally, I love the little boy outfits with monkeys and giraffes on them. And puppies! I am a sucker for those.

  4. Thanks again for such a wonderful shower! I LOVED the sweet pea theme!

  5. Congrats on the pregnancy – having a baby (babies) is the best thing I did.
