When Paul Newman came over for dinner

Right after my grandfather died several years ago, I had a very vivid dream about him.

The dream also involved the legendary Paul Newman.

In the dream, my family was expecting Paul Newman for dinner, and we were serving salad along with the main course.  My grandfather was extremely upset because the salad dressing that we had set out on the table was some generic brand.

He shouted, “How can we have Paul Newman over for dinner and not serve Newman’s salad dressing?!”

For whatever reason, the dream really stuck with me.  Now whenever I’m in the store and I see any Newman’s Own product, I think of that dream and of course, my grandfather.

Because the brand gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling, I was really excited when Foodbuzz selected me to try some Newman’s Own products- and yes, salad dressing was included.

My grandfather would have been proud.

I was actually most excited about the sauce though.  Now that the summer tomatoes are a thing of the past, I’m not eating them as much, and as a result, I’m missing out on some of their amazing health benefits.

Tomatoes (even the canned variety!) are amazing for their lycopene and have been shown to lower cholesterol, fight cancer, help to prevent heart disease, and reduce the risk of neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s. Plus, they contain antioxidants which keep us looking young!

I immediately served the roasted garlic sauce over a plate of spaghetti squash for a quick and easy meal.  It tasted just as good as homemade (although please don’t tell my grandmother that I said so).

I’m also happy to report that the ingredient list is pretty great and contains nothing that isn’t pure and pronounceable.

Thanks to Foodbuzz and Newman’s Own for letting me try these products!

Have you ever had a dream that you’ve never forgotten?

Are you a fan of Paul Newman’s movies?  I absolutely loved Cool Hand Luke.  If you haven’t seen it, I definitely recommend that you do!

Happy Wednesday!
